Cool Card Make and Take

I recently did a project for the 3 Fiskateers over at http://www.fiskateers.com/blog/. Since the Round Up event is now over, I thought that I would post the Make and Take here on my blog for you all to enjoy. (This is my first make and take I've done on my blog so please go easy on me. I'm still trying to learn all this blog stuff). lol

My secret challenge was to make a COOL CARD using the tool that May sent me. I could use any other products, stamps, etc but I did have to use the tool I was given.

When May (one of the lead Fiskateers) sent me the Fiskars Heart Squeeze Punch for this project, I was thrilled. (I just love the Fiskars Squeeze Punches.) I really wanted to think outside the box for this one and use this punch in a different way other than just creating hearts. I immediately grabbed my cardstock and started punching out hearts and started playing with them. This card is a result of that.

This card shows you how you can use the Heart Squeeze Punch to make scallops (how cool would they be on scrap pages) and also how to make a cool photo corner using the Heart Squeeze Punch. The photo corner wasn't my original idea as I had seen a demo on a blog for creating one with the scallop heart punch.

To make this you’ll need:

8.5×5.5 piece of white cardstock
stamp
4.25×5.5 piece of patterned paper
black ink
white cardstock
Stickles - pink and green
navy cardstock
Sakura Metallic Gel Pens - silver
white and navy cardstock scraps
Foam Tape
Fiskars X-Large Heart Squeeze Punch
Cutter, cutting mat, scissors
Fiskars Scallop Decorative Scissors
Fiskars tape runner
Fiskars Hole Punch

Step 1:
Adhere patterned papers to folded piece of cardstock. Take the navy cardstock and punch out a heart. Fold the top two edges of the heart inward to make a cute photo corner and attach this over the pattern paper.

Step 2:
Stamp image onto white cardstock and color image with chalks. I went over top of the image with Pearlescent chalks to give it a shimmer. Then I decorated the image with Stickles and shimmer gel pen.

Step 3:
Punch out 5 hearts from white cardstock.

Step 4:
Line up hearts along edge of ruler or along line on cutting mat. Add a bit of tape to the top part of each heart and attach to the other. Once hearts are all lined up and taped together, use hole punch to punch a small hole in each ‘scallop’.

Step 5:
Glue hearts down on top of pattern paper leaving a bit of the bottom to hang over the fold, then fold the bottom of hearts over to the back of card.

Step 6:
Take the 1 ½ x 5.5 piece of blue cardstock and lay it on top of the hearts as close to the tips as you can. Tape down and then crease it so it also folds over the fold of the card. Add ribbon to finish off.

Step 7:
Mat the image onto blue cardstock and then using foam tape for dimension pop it up.

This card really shimmers in real life.

To finish off the card inside, I took a piece of white text weight paper measuring 8 x 5 1/4 , folded it in half, then draw a light line along the open edge and use the Fiskars Scallop Scissors to cut a decorative edge. Then tape inside the card using the tape runner. You can stamp your sentiment on this.

Supplies: Paper: Bazzille cs, Pattern Paper from a pack, stamp – stampendous, ribbon, flower and gem brad)

The second card I’ve included shows how you can use the Fiskars Heart Squeeze punch to add a sentiment to an image. I just stamped the bear image, colored the image, cut around his paws and inserted a heart that I had stamped the sentiment on. I added this to a cuttlebug background and it made a quick and easy card. (I just noticed that there is a black shadow from the ribbon over part of the bears face.)

I hope that you've enjoyed seeing a new way to use your Fiskars Xlarge Heart Punch.
